Finish stage
Edge & Beveling
An edge is the first thing a hand notices. The tools here bevel the corner, seal the fibres and burnish the edge to a smooth, hard roll. Turn to them after stitching, when the piece is assembled and you want a professional finish rather than a raw cut.
Edge Beveler
Shaves a rounded corner off the edge so burnishing can close it into a smooth roll.
Edge Slicker
A grooved stick rubbed along a dampened edge to compress and polish it.
Canvas Burnisher
A folded canvas strip used to friction-polish an edge after waxing.
Edge Paint
A pigmented coating that seals an edge in colour instead of burnishing it.
Beeswax
Rubbed on an edge or a thread to add grip, seal fibres and help burnishing.
Glass Slicker
A polished glass rod that burnishes an edge to a hard, glossy shine.

Cutting & Punching
Every build starts at the cutting mat. This family covers the blades and punches that turn a hide into accurate pattern pieces and pre-set holes. Reach for these first when you are squaring a strap, shaping a panel, or laying out a row of stitching holes before a single thread is cut.
Stitching & Thread
Once the leather is cut and punched, the seam has to hold for years. These are the needles, threads and clamps that carry a saddle stitch by hand. Use them when you want a seam that cannot unravel, and when a machine stitch would look too flat or too weak for the load.
Dyeing & Finishing
Colour and protection sit on top of the leather. These tools apply dye, seal it with a finish and buff the surface to the sheen you want. Reach for them when the natural tone is too pale, when you need a matched colour across pieces, or when the finished item must resist everyday handling.
